DIY image transfer using homemade transfer medium

Era tanto che volevo provare il trasferimento di immagini e raccoglievo spunti su Pinterest. Mi sono decisa quando Serena di "Cappello a Bombetta" ha pubblicato il suo tutorial con quel bellissimo risultato, ma a quel punto non trovavo il transfer medium nei negozi craft della mia città. Così è arrivata in mio soccorso l'amica Chiara Tessaro (grazie Chiara!) con la sua ricetta homemade per il transfer medium.

Homemade transfer medium : 1/2 colla vinilica + 1/2 vernice finale acrilica opaca!

Troppo semplice? Eppure vero. Come base ho usato un pezzo di legno avanzato da un lavoretto dell'idraulico/marito (riciclo), levigato e coperto non totalmente con gesso acrilico bianco. Ecco la mia tela su cui ho trasferito l'immagine (una fotocopia laser). per il procedimento step-by-step seguite il tutorial di "Cappello a Bombetta", ricordando di usare fotocopie o stampe laser (non a getto d'inchiostro), lasciar asciugare bene overnight il foglio applicato e di avere tanta pazienza quando pian piano bagnate la carta e la rimuovete.

Io ci ho fatto tanti regalini di Natale, usando fotocopie di stampe e di foto. Ricordate che l'immagine trasferita sarà speculare, perciò se avete delle scritte dovrete stamparle "al contrario". L'effetto è magnifico.

E non ditemi che non vi piacciono gli insetti, tanto stamattina mi sono alzata con le orecchie tappate ;)



It was so much I wanted to try to transfer images and I was gathering ideas on Pinterest. I decided when Serena of the blog "Cappello a Bombetta" released her tutorial with her gorgeous result, but at that point I could not find the transfer medium in the craft stores in my town. Thus came to my rescue my dear friend Chiara Tessaro (thank you Chiara!) with the homemade recipe for transfer medium.

Homemade transfer medium: 1/2 vynil glue + 1/2 acrylic matt paint finish!

Too simple? Yet true. As a base I used a piece of wood left over from a job of my plumber / husband, sanded and not totally covered with white acrylic gesso. Here is my canvas on which I transferred the image (a photocopy laser). for the process step-by-step follow the tutorial of "Cappello a Bombetta", remembering to use copies or laser prints (not inkjet), let it dry overnight once applied the paper to have a lot of patience when slowly wet the paper and remove it.
I've done many Christmas gifts using this techique, using laser copies of prints and photos. Remember that the transferred image will be mirrored, so if you have words you will have to print them "backwards". The effect is magnificent.

And do not tell me you do not like insects, 'cause this morning I woke up with plugged ears;)

E questo è una delle tele che ho preparato per un'amica a Natale, dove ho evidenziato qualche particolare colorandolo. Facile e d'effetto!

And this is one of the gift that I made for a friend at Christmas. I highlighted some particular with color. Easy and effective!

Un lunedì da PIN! Color spots!

Buon lunedì! Ieri abbiamo fatto un rapido giro all'IKEA e ci siamo innamorati della nuova versione dell'Expedit color turchese.. splendida!
Macchie di colore in casa.. ad effetto sorprendente! Non ne avete voglia anche voi? Io da impazzire. Quel blu indaco mi fa innamorare, il giallo degli infissi e delle cornici mi esalta, il mobile rosso mi attrae, la parete blu sfumata mi intriga, il bagno smeraldo mi fa volare e il living giallo.. mi fa venir voglia di giallo!
Ma che dico? Io ho sempre voglia di giallo.. giallo leone!
E voi amate le macchie di colore?


Happy Monday! Yesterday we had a quick tour at IKEA and we loved the new version Expedit turquoise .. gorgeous!
Splashes of color in the home.. an amazing effect! You don't feel like too? I go crazy. That makes me fall in love indigo blue, yellow frames and the frames excites me, the red mobile attracts me, the wall faded blue intrigues me, the emerald bathroom makes me fly away and the yellow living .. makes me want the yellow!
What am I saying? I always want to yellow .. yellow lion!

Un paio di tende nuove e vecchi fermatenda con un colore nuovo possono farmi sorridere e stare bene anche in una domenica un po' "così". Non sono una con grosse pretese... basta poco.

Bring! Il Brico - ring

Sono stata un po' assente in questi giorni, impossibilitata a fare foto perché costretta a letto da un un breve ma intenso attacco di influenza. Anche il bruttissimo tempo e l'assenza completa di luce naturale hanno contribuito.
Faccio quindi una breve apparizione con una foto...
Ricordate queste collana e orecchini della serie "Bri-joux" che avevo creato partendo da materiali di scarto/riciclo? A fargli compagnia ecco "Bri-ng", il brico - ring... l'anello perfetto per me che proprio non sono capace di prendere le misure!
Ebbene si, lo confesso. Se devo prendere delle misure, anche le più stupide, chiamo l'idraulico che invece è bravissimo, pignolo e perfezionista... 
Il Bring nasce da un pezzetto di un vecchio metro di legno dell'idraulico ormai molto usurato, requisito di nascosto e segato. Il danno è fatto!


I was absent these days, unable to take pictures because bedridden by a brief but intense bout of influenza. Even the ugly time and the complete absence of natural light were a cause.
Then today I have a brief appearance with a pic ...
Do you remember this necklace and earrings set called "Bri-joux" that I created from waste/recycling materials? To keep them company here is the "Bri-ng", the brico-ring ... this is the perfect ring for me because I'm not able to take measures!
Yes, I confess. If I have to take sizes, even the most stupid ones, I call the plumber which instead is very good, picky and perfectionist ...
"Bring" is the result of a piece of an old wooden meter plumber now very worn, stolen and sawn. The damage is done!

Un lunedì di Pasquetta da PIN! - Ridatemi il terrazzo!

Buon lunedì di Pasquetta a chi lo festeggia!
Anche se di festa è pur sempre un lunedì e non può mancare l'appuntamento con la rubrica dei PIN. Oggi però ne ho scelto solo uno che rispecchia il bisogno ormai impellente di una temperatura primaverile per poter almeno ravvivare il terrazzo.
Eccone uno da sogno, non sembra molto ampio ma c'è tutto quello che mi piace: elementi di riciclo (la bobina, la panchetta in legno antico, una vecchia ruota appoggiata al muro), tessuti colorati, una grande panca dove potersi anche sdraiare con morbidi cuscini, un paesaggio meraviglioso, piante e fiori che creano un finto aspetto selvaggio e.. una vasca idromassaggio! Ma ci pensate? Vorrei essere li...
E' una villa a San paolo, Brasile, opera dell'architetto Lays Sances.


Happy Easter Monday to those who celebrate!
Although it is a feast day it's still a Monday and you can not miss the appointment with my PIN's Monday. Today, however, I chose only one image which reflects the urgent need now for a spring temperatures to at least revive the terrace.
Here's a dram one, it does not seem very large but there is everything I like: elements of recycling (the coil, the old wooden bench, an old wheel leaning against the wall), colorful fabrics, a large bench to lie down with soft cushions, a wonderful landscape, plants and flowers that create a fake wild and .. a hot tub! But you think about it? I will be there ...

A parte la vasca idromassaggio (e il tocco esperto dell'architetto) lo trovo uno spunto interessante per decorare e arredare un terrazzo.

Venerdì Santo...

Per molte persone come me oggi è un giorno speciale, un venerdì speciale, il più importante di tutti.
I pensieri in questo giorno si affollano, le emozioni si contorcono, il fuoco scoppietta nel camino perché invece del tepore primaverile fa davvero molto freddo.

Ieri mattina mi sono lasciata assalire (che brutta parola) da alcuni dubbi su questo mio blog e su come sia cambiato nel corso di questi due anni. "Vivere a piedi nudi" si chiama così perché rispecchia come mi piace vivere la vita, i piedi nudi mettono in contatto con il terreno su cui ti trovi, lo senti, lo vivi, che sia terra, sabbia, acqua, prato... 

Mi immagino sulla cima di un colle con le braccia alzate al cielo, i piedi nudi sull'erba, e terra-io-cielo siamo un tutt'uno attraversato dall'elettricità della vita. Ultimamente questa immagine è sbiadita ed ho intenzione di recuperarla. 

Ieri mi sono rifugiata tra le braccia virtuali di alcune amiche blogger, e loro mi hanno accolta, stretta, guidata, consigliata. A chi dice che la frequentazione del web è alienante rispondo che non sa cosa si perde. Si perde amicizia e affetto sinceri tra persone che a volte non si conoscono nemmeno. Probabilmente state leggendo, mie care amiche... quindi grazie, ancora una volta.

E' stata una dimostrazione di affetto che ha scaldato tutto il freddo della giornata.. e anche di più! Mi aspetto che l'arrivo della primavera mi dia la possibilità di fare pulizia... spesso accade che fare pulizia fuori si rispecchi col farla anche "dentro", questo è quello che mi auguro!



For many people like me today is a special day, a special Friday , the most important of all.
Thoughts on this day crowd, emotions twist, the fire crackles in the fireplace because instead of spring warmth is very cold.

Yesterday morning I was attacked (what an ugly word) by some doubts about my blog and how it has changed over the past two years. "Living Barefooted" is so called because it reflects how I like to live life, bare feet make contact with the ground on which you stand, you feel it, live it, soil, sand, water, or grass ...

I guess on top of a hill with my arms raised to the sky, bare feet on the grass, sky-earth-I we are one thing. Actually this imagine has faded and I'm going to retrieve it.

Yesterday I took refuge in the arms of some virtual blogger friends, and they welcomed me, close, guided, advised. To those who say that the attendance of the web is alienating I say they do not know what they are missing. They lose friendship and sincere affection between people who sometimes do not even know themselves. Perhaps you're reading my friends ... so thank you once again.

It 'was a demonstration of affection that warmed all the cold of the day .. and even more! I expect that the arrival of spring will give me a chance to clean up ... often do you clean out your space and it also reflects "inside", this is what I hope!
